Three simple steps to support
Getting the right care in place should not be complicated. We have designed our process to be simple, unhurried, and completely guided by you — with no pressure and no commitment until you are ready.
How it works
Reach out — and tell us your story
The first step is simply getting in touch. You can call, fill in our contact form, or email us — whichever feels most comfortable. There is no intake questionnaire, no insurance form, and no fee. Just a conversation.
In our first call, we will ask you to tell us about your loved one: who they are, what has been happening, what is making things difficult, and what you are hoping for. We listen carefully before we say anything about what we can offer.
We ask about the person — their life, their character, what they have loved and valued — not only their symptoms or diagnosis. That is because the matching process starts here: we are already thinking about which of our companions might be the right fit.
There is no commitment required at this stage. Some families take days or weeks to decide whether to proceed. We are happy to be a resource without any pressure to move forward until you feel ready.
Meet your matched companion
If after our conversation you would like to proceed, we will identify the companion we believe is the best match — based on personality, life experience, interests, and practical factors such as location and availability.
Before any visits begin, your companion will meet your loved one. This introductory meeting is unhurried and low-key — a cup of tea, a conversation, a chance to see whether there is natural rapport. We are looking for ease, warmth, and the sense that this is a relationship that could develop into something meaningful.
You are always in control of this decision. If the first match does not feel right, we will find someone else. We do not begin formal visits until you are genuinely comfortable that the fit is good. The introductory meeting is not a trial run for our benefit — it is a test for yours.
Visits begin — on your terms
Once the match feels right, visits begin. The frequency and length are built around what your family needs. We can start with a few hours a week and expand over time — or we can begin with daily visits if that is what is needed.
Your companion will arrive consistently, at the same time, building the rhythm and familiarity that matters so much to someone living with dementia. After each visit, we share a brief note with the family — how your loved one was, what they did, anything worth knowing.
Care is never static. As needs change, we change with them — adjusting visit frequency, duration, or focus. You will always have a direct line to us, and we will always tell you honestly if we think something needs to shift.
Compassionate in-home care — tailored to every individual, every visit.
Your first month with us
Here is a realistic picture of how the first four weeks typically unfold. Every family is different, but this gives you a sense of the pace.
First conversation & assessment
We speak with you and, where possible, meet your loved one. We listen carefully, ask questions, and build a detailed picture of the situation. By the end of this conversation, we have a clear sense of the care needed and which companion might be the right match. No decisions required.
Introductory meeting & care plan
Your matched companion meets your loved one for the first time. We also begin building the care plan together — working through your loved one's history, preferences, sensitivities, and routines in as much detail as is useful.
First visits & early feedback
Regular visits begin. Your companion arrives consistently, building familiarity. After each visit, you receive a brief update. We check in with you at the end of week three to see how things are settling and whether anything needs adjusting.
Rhythm established
By week four, most families find that a natural rhythm has developed. Your loved one knows what to expect. You know who is coming. The relationship between companion and client has begun to form the consistency and trust that makes the difference.
What to expect from your first conversation
Many families are uncertain about what to say when they reach out for the first time. Here is exactly what you can expect from that first call — so nothing comes as a surprise.
Get in touch →- The call takes around 20 to 30 minutes, but there is no rush — take the time you need
- We will ask about your loved one: their diagnosis, their day-to-day life, and what is currently most challenging
- We will ask what you are hoping for — what good would look like if care were in place
- You can ask us anything — about our companions, our process, our pricing, or anything else on your mind
- There is no sales process and no pressure to commit to anything during or after the call
- If we are not the right fit, we will tell you honestly — and we will do our best to point you toward what might be
Answers before you ask
In most cases, we can have your first companion visit arranged within 7 to 14 days of your initial conversation. If the situation is urgent, we will do our best to move faster.
In the rare event your regular companion cannot make a visit, we will let you know as early as possible and discuss options — including rescheduling or, if needed, arranging a temporary cover companion you have already met.
We match based on personality, shared interests, communication style, and life experience — not just availability. We take time to understand your loved one as a person, not just a care need.
We do not enforce a strict minimum. Many families start with 2 to 3 visits per week. We build the schedule around what genuinely works for your family.
We review care arrangements regularly and proactively. If your loved one's needs change — more or less support, different focus areas — we adjust with you. You will never feel locked in to a rigid arrangement.
Absolutely. Many family members choose to be present, especially in the early weeks. Over time, most find that their loved one is more relaxed and independent when they step back — but this is always your choice.
Our companions are not registered carers and do not provide clinical personal care. We focus on companionship, engagement, and emotional support. If personal care is also needed, we can discuss how our service fits alongside other support.
We will find a new companion. No questions, no blame, no cost. Getting the right fit is our responsibility, and we take it seriously.
